To a large degree the cockroach is a maligned species. In itself it is quite harmless. It doesn’t bite or sting. The problem with cockroaches is the places they prefer to live in. These include drains, sewers and grease traps, cracks and most dirty places.
In general cockroaches do not eat much food but tend to infect it and spread disease. While cockroaches are no proof of dirty premises, unhygienic conditions, dirty dishes and food particles left lying around will attract them. They tend to prefer vegetable matter but will eat almost anything. They are night creatures and like to hide in dark corners and inside food packages by day.
