TERMITE TREATMENTS

EXTERRA

Your home has subterranean termites. Or you realise there is a good chance that it will if it is not properly protected. But the only way to stop termites is an invasive process that requires the application of hundreds of litres of toxic spray under and around your home. Right?

Not anymore. Imagine all this being replaced by the application in a closed and locked station of a termite bait containing a few grams of an active ingredient less toxic than table salt. Welcome to the future of termite management – termite baiting with Exterra.

Until recently, the almost exclusively used method of termite management was the application of a chemical termite barrier. The application of such a barrier to your home would typically involve spraying large volumes of toxic and environmentally persistent chemicals around and under its foundation in close proximity to you and your family.

Exterra radically changes all that. And as important as Exterra’s environment friendly features are, they’re just a big bonus.

Exterra’s greatest advantage compared to chemical barriers is its ability to eliminate the actual source of your termite problem – the termite colony itself.

The Exterra Termite Interception and Baiting System is a systematic, multi-step termite management method. Australian field trials have clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of the system in controlling subterranean termites in Australia.

The Exterra System represents a true paradigm shift in termite management. Conventional approaches to termite management can be likened to treating the symptoms of a disease but not the actual disease. Exterra in many ways is akin to treating the actual disease. Exterra even offers the possibility of curing the “disease.”

Premise

The Safer Effective Alternative is Premise

Premise is water based, non-odorous and of a very low toxicity to humans, dogs, cats and other mammals. It is classified. as a low hazard Schedule 5 chemical with a “CAUTION” notation on the registered label.

Premise does NOT have an obnoxious odour or emit airborne residues or fumes, unlike commonly used solvent based termiticides.

Premise has been used by the termite control service industry, as soil treatment barrier against termites for more than five years in Australia (more than seven years in the USA) with excellent results for long term effective termite control.

Premise represents modern technology (1) it is NOT an organo-chlorine or organo-phosphate pesticide, and (2) termites cannot detect the chemical.

Premise is non-repellant to the termites. Termites can enter the Premise treated soil zone without detecting the chemical. The repellant nature of the alternative product means the termites can readily move along such a chemical barrier seeking a gap to gain entry in the building.

Premise kills the termites fast and even in soil areas of lower dose rates the research studies show, that termites will become disoriented, stop feeding, and are fatally affected termites get back to the central nest to contaminate other termites in the central nest. We have experience no significant problems with Premise in the five years of it’s extensive use in Australia.

Premise was developed, tested and is manufactured by Bayer on of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and scientific research companies.

Termidor

TERMIDOR is the newest termite control product on the market in Australia. Since its release in 2002, Termidor has rapidly grown to become one of the leading termite control products on the Australian market.

TERMIDOR is applied as a treatment to the soil surrounding existing structures. Traditionally these types of applications are referred to as chemical barriers, although in the case of Termidor, the chemical does not act in the same way as many older chemicals. Rather than a barrier that repels termites, Termidor acts as a non-repellent treated zone, which allows termites to enter and therefore more efficiently killed.

The reason for this is that Termidor is undetectable to termites. Termites will actually enter the treated zone, where Termidor binds to their cuticle. Once this has occurred, it is only a matter of time before they are killed. And time is not on their side.

Termidor’s unique Transfer Effect™ ensures that the Termidor is passed from one termite to the next and as a result even termites that have not directly come into contact with the treated soil can pick up a lethal dose.

Extensive testing with Termidor under Australian conditions where termites were present in the structure showed control within nine weeks, with an average of 4.3 weeks to achieve control. However, not only will Termidor kill termites that are present, it will also prevent concealed entry to structure for a minimum period of 8 years for ALL TERMITE SPECIES – a claim no other termite control product can make.
